Vauxhall lifts the wraps on possible new coupe for UK
Vauxhall has a strong heritage of high performance coupes. The Firenza Droopsnoot was released in 1974, a limited run of only 204 cars shown in its ultimate form by Baby Bertha.
The Vauxhall Royale and Opel Monza grand touring coupes were announced in 1978, and offered memorably sublime big six cylinder performance before being phased out in 1987.
In 1990 Vauxhall stunned the world by launching the Calibra, at that time the world's most aerodynamic coupe and ultimately powered by a 204PS turbo engine capable of 152mph. The final Calibra rolled off the line in 1997.
The stunning Astra Coupe -- easy winner of the 2002 BTCC championship (as well as the 2001 chanmpionship) -- maintained the performance coupe momentum as it blended classic style and sporting performance. The 2.0 litre 16v Turbo edition as the Astra family flagship.
At Motor Show 2002 Vauxhall unveils a potential new coupe.
It is possible that the company's first V8 Coupe can take the heritage forward by combining the best of General Motors design and performance from around the world.
Monaro is at the Motor Show to gauge reaction, and if it positive enough, then there is a good chance that the coupe could appear on Britain's roads.
The Monaro is a full 4 seater powered by the Chevrolet Corvette's 5.7 V8. It is slightly heavier than a Vectra GSi but in its ultimate incarnation has the same power as a Ferrari 360!

Close-ratio 6-speed manual gearbox (or 4 Speed automatic) with shift light and buzzer.

On se nätti. Nuo suoritusarvot tuntuvat vähän hatusta ravistelluilta, koska tehopainosuhde on 5.49-4.01 kg/hv.
Kovasti on samaa näköä aiemmin keskusteluakin herättäneen auton kanssa.

Niin, ihan kuin suoritusarvot olisi pienempitehoisesta automaattiversiosta. Tekstissäkin autoa verrattiin Ferrarin 360 malliin joten luulisi suorituskyvyn olevan lähellä samaa luokkaa.

Sama autohan se on. Voi kun toisivat myös tänne mantereen puolelle... vaikkei itsellä olisi varaakaan, niin olisi ihan hieno edes nähdä noita autoja...

No, Iso-Britanniahan on EU:ta, joten sieltä muutaman vuoden päästä noita voi tuoda tänne käytettynä? Ketä sellainen pikkuseikka noin hienossa autossa haittaisi jos ratti on väärällä puolella... ja Opelin merkit sitten vielä kiinni autoon ja taakse teksti "Omega Coupé 5.7 V8"...

No unelmoidahan sitä aina saa...
